New Chair of Vision 2020 Australia announced

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Graham Perrett as the new Chair of Vision 2020 Australia, following his election as a Director at our Annual General Meeting and his subsequent election as Chair at last week’s Board meeting.

Graham brings deep experience in health, education and community advocacy, shaped by 18 years as the Federal Member for Moreton. His leadership across parliamentary committees, his national and global advocacy in diabetes policy, and his long-standing commitment to inclusive, evidence-based health reform position him strongly to lead Vision 2020 Australia into its next chapter.

We also welcome Dr Emily White as a newly elected Board Director. Emily is a nationally and globally recognised leader in education for children who are blind, have low vision or are deafblind. A lecturer in Learning Intervention at the University of Melbourne, she brings more than 20 years of expertise across disability-specific teaching, research, assessment and inclusive sport, and holds key leadership roles with ICEVI, SPEVI, LIVES, and Blind Sports and Recreation Victoria.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Hon Christopher Pyne, who stepped down as Chair at the AGM after five years of dedicated service. His leadership has strengthened our national voice, driven collaboration, and supported meaningful progress across the eye health and vision care sector.

We also thank everyone who nominated for Board positions, as well as Kylie Harris and Leah Cameron, who are stepping down prior to the end of their terms. We are deeply grateful for their time, commitment and contributions, and we wish them all the very best for the future.
