Blind and low vision sector supports NDIS Review recommendations

Vision 2020 Australia and Blind Citizens Australia (BCA) have welcomed the release of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Review and endorsed its proposed recommendations to strengthen equity, access, and participation for people with disability.

The joint statement highlights broad member support from key eye health and vision care organisations including Vision Australia, Guide Dogs Australia, See Differently (with Royal Society for the Blind), and Macular Disease Foundation Australia.

The Review’s focus on foundational supports, improved access pathways, developmental outcomes for children, and proposed assistive technology system reforms are seen as positive steps for people with blindness and low vision. Vision 2020 Australia CEO Carly Iles emphasised the importance of ongoing collaboration with government to uphold equitable access and inclusion.
